Luxury vinyl flooring is a natural choice

Luxury vinyl flooring(LVF) imitates more expensive natural materials. Some styles look like hardwood planks while others look like stone, such as marble or travertine, or ceramic tile. Some tile is even designed to be installed with grout so it more closely mimics stone flooring. Carpet Outlet Of Shelby County, founded in 1987, has many satisfied customers in the Pelham, Alabama, area. Not only do we offer a wide variety of LVF and other flooring and home decor items, but our installers are also experienced pros.

LVF facts

LVF can be installed in any area of the home, including the bathroom, kitchen, and basement. High tech digital printing technology ensures realistic images that make it hard to tell whether the flooring is made of vinyl or natural materials. LVF is thicker than standard sheet vinyl so it is softer to walk on, and it’s warm regardless of the season. This floor covering is stain-, scratch-, and scuff-resistant. Some brands are water-resistant while others are waterproof. LVF is anti-static as well as slip-resistant. It's easy to see why this flooring is ideal for moisture-prone areas. When LVF is installed in a living room, it's best to put padding under the furniture to avoid dents. Shielding the floor from direct sunlight with window treatments is also a good idea. This low maintenance floor can be deep cleaned occasionally to keep it looking new.

LVP and LVT

There are two types of luxury vinyl flooring: luxury vinyl planks (LVP) and luxury vinyl tiles. (LVT) Both types come in a variety of textures, looks, colors, and styles. Planks and tiles can be installed over some existing flooring. Some styles are glued down while others click and lock together to float over the subfloor or the floor below it. Multi-ply planks or tiles usually have four layers:

  • Wear layer -Transparent top layer that protects the design layer; ranges from 2 to 8 mm in thickness; the thicker the wear layer, the more durable the product
  • Design layer -Thin digital image that is bonded to the core
  • Core layer -Provides stability and moisture protection
  • Backing layer -Provides moisture protection and prevents mold and mildew
